Good for quick mockups

I used Illustroke to generate some character design vectors for a project. The process of turning text prompts into SVG was mostly smooth. I bought a monthly subscription plan, which gave me enough credits. The quality of the flat style illustrations was good, not always perfect but easily editable in my own software. Delivery was instant, obviously, since it's digital. I did have a question about commercial usage rights, and support got back to me within 24 hours, which was decent. Overall, it saved me time on initial concepts.

Easy vector generation

Needed some abstract geometric vectors for a website. Illustroke's AI text to vector generation worked really well. The SVG files were ready instantly. Got what I needed fast.

Decent for icons

I tried Illustroke for an icon set. I just picked up one of their bulk credit packs. The AI did a pretty good job on the icon concepts. Some needed tweaking, but that's expected. It was easy to download the SVG files. Took me a bit to figure out the best prompts but once I got the hang of it, it was straightforward. Definitely better than starting from scratch.

My promo code isn't working at checkout, what gives? Is there a special box for it or something?

K Kevin Garcia 1 month ago
Make sure you're putting it in the right spot, usually there's a specific 'promo code' field on the payment screen. Also, sometimes codes are only for new users or specific plans.

Could be for a different type of purchase, like a credit pack versus a subscription. Double check the terms of the code.

Anyone know if Illustroke is better than Midjourney for actual vector graphics? I need stuff for logos and web design, not just pretty pictures.

A Alex Jackson 1 month ago
Totally different beasts. Midjourney is more for raster images and photorealistic stuff. Illustroke is specifically for vectors, so if that's what you need, it's way better for that purpose. You're not going to get clean SVGs from Midjourney.

For vectors, Illustroke is the way to go. Midjourney is cool but you'd have to vectorize its output manually, which is a pain.

Anyone got a student discount code for Illustroke? Or know how to get one?

S Sam J. 2 weeks ago
I've heard they have one, but I think you have to apply directly through their site. It's not just a general code floating around.

D Daniel Nguyen 2 weeks ago
Yeah, check their FAQs, I think it mentions how to get it there. Not an automatic thing though.

How many credits does it usually take for one illustration? Trying to figure out if a credit pack is worth it or if I should just subscribe.

A Amber Jackson 1 week ago
It can vary a bit depending on complexity, but usually it's just one credit per generation. So if you're making a bunch, a pack or sub is probably more cost-effective.

One credit usually, unless you're doing something really wild. They're pretty clear about the credit cost before you generate.

Is there usually a Black Friday sale? Or should I just jump on a subscription now?

D David F. 1 week ago
They usually do, yeah. I remember getting a pretty sweet deal on credits last year around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Might be worth waiting a bit if you're not in a huge rush.

I think they tend to have something around then. Or New Year's too.
